Victoria · Wildlife rehabilitation

The habitat intelligence platform built for the people doing the rescuing.

WHIP puts the government, council and scientific data that already exists into the hands of wildlife carers — to find natural food, assess release sites, and see what's happening in their patch before it's too late.

Everything WHIP does is built for the licensed wildlife rehabilitator. The value it creates for councils, agencies and researchers is a by-product of the work carers already do — never the other way around.

What we do

Six connected tools, one platform — built for the reality of rescue and release.

Browse & food sourcing

The nearest real food trees for the animals in your care, turned into a run a volunteer can follow safely — plant ID, quantities and a cutting guide.

Release-site assessment

Score any location against real vegetation, hollow, water, fire, road and planning data before you drive — with the reasoning and source behind every part.

Early warning & alerts

Planned burns, spraying, clearing and natural-disaster warnings for your own area — delivered to you, not lost among fifty phone notifications.

A network, not a phone tree

Coordinate browse runs, releases, mutual aid and emergencies between shelters — including a statewide SOS when a shelter must evacuate its animals.

Reports that reach government

Your own records, turned into agency-ready reports — every dataset checked, cited and dated, with honest gaps where data doesn't reach.

A genuine say

A shared noticeboard and an anonymous community vote, so the platform and the facts on it stay owned by the carers who know the animals best.

The reality it's built for

8pm on a Tuesday, and a glider needs fresh browse.

WHIP was built inside a working shelter, for the moments that actually happen — finding the right food fast, safely, without ringing around; knowing what's been sprayed; getting animals home to habitat that will hold them.

Who's building it

Built by a working wildlife shelter — because the sector needed it.

WHIP is developed and primarily self-funded by Totally Untamed Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation, with limited grant and community support. It wasn't commissioned. It exists because the person building it stands in the dark with a torch too.
